Responses of William DeRosa

I am responding to your questionnaire concerning the interests of Jersey City's historic Powerhouse Arts District.

1. What has motivated you to run for Jersey City school board?

As a retired educator, I have dedicated my life to being an advocate for children. I have a unique understanding of our school district; it's positives and negatives as well as its strengths and weaknesses. I wish to continue to be a part of the several initiatives which have begun. These include The High School Initiative which began in September of 2008.

2. What are your top goals for your three year term?

To strive to make our school facilities safe and secure for all of our students and teachers.

To create a bond between the district and our parents, as well as various community groups.

To see the Jersey City School District return to local control.

3. Are you running on a slate with other candidates? If so, who are they and what do you think you can achieve as a complete slate?

Mr. Sean Connors and Ms. Patricia Sebron.

As a team, we can work diligently to achieve the goals listed above. To be an active participant in board committees and to be an advocate for the children of our public schools.
