Artist Resources A certified artist as defined by Jersey City is, a person regularly engaged in the fine arts as a career, not as a hobby. This does not necessarily mean that the individual's art generates his or her main source of income, or even that the creation of art occupies the greatest portion of the artist's day. Rather, the certification refers to individuals who are committed to their art, as demonstrated by a body of work indicating continued development of this work into the foreseeable future. Includes Visual Arts (painters, sculptors, photographer), Film/Video/Performance/Music (choreographers, composers, dancers), and Fiction/Poetry Writers. In order to quality for one of the Artist units you must be registered and meet the following qualifications: • Have not owned property in the last 3 years • Have an income under $64,960 for 1 - 2 persons household For each available unit, a lottery is held from all the registered artist applicants.
