About the Powerhouse Arts District Neighborhood Association

PADNA organized in April 2006 for the following reasons:

•   To address the quality of life issues that our developing neighborhood faces everyday.
•   To generate excitement and traffic in our dynamic neighborhood.
•   To develop a strong supportive community network through community discussions and functions.

PADNA provides a forum for members to report, learn about, consider, take positions on, and act on issues of local concern, including all of Downtown Jersey City and, where appropriate, the entire city and county.

We support historically appropriate and sensitive development consistent with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and support the development of a pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use, vibrant neighborhood with emphasis on the arts, entertainment and culture. We serve as a members' liaison to other organizations, to government agencies and others. PADNA fosters a community among residents of the area.

We get involved and are committed to quality of life of our neighborhood. We regulary contact and discuss with city officials about handling crime waves, zoning issues and traffic problems. We successfully got NO PARKING restrictions lifted on Bay Street between Marin and Provost as well as re-claimed parking from inactive constructions sites.

PADNA consists of volunteers, with regular meetings the second Tuesday of each month. The board meets monthly to coordinate PADNA activities and discuss committee projects.
